Freshrb, Silent Elephant Project Corner: Why ME?
Freshrb C.I.C. is a video production social enterprise based in Manchester that primarily offers creative video production solutions and workshops to raise awareness of health themes. Silent Elephant Project is an accredited short film workshop that brings University students and school students to investigate, research and co-produce fictional storylines that raise the awareness of factual marginalised health conditions that affect our communities.
Why ME? is a short film that raises the awareness of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, ME.
ME, also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), affects around 250,000 people in the UK. ME/CFS is a life limiting condition that can affect the mental health of those diagnosed with the illness and can be hard to accept.
This short film is centred around a fictional character named Kyle, a high achiever who loves playing basketball. He has an opportunity to impress a scout attending a school game, however he has a ME diagnosis.
This is a two part podcast that interviews two individuals, Meg and Kondwani, living with ME in the UK. We speak about their story and how they cope with their diagnosis.
